  • Dining alfresco is all but a requirement in the courtyard.

On the site of late president Ronald Reagan's home in Los Angeles's Pacific Palisades sits this newly completed Spanish Revival–style stucco residence, designed by Jaman Properties and landscape designer Scott Shrader to include some of the 1953 building's original elements. Set on a bluff in the Santa Monica Mountains, the Riviera White House has city, ocean, and mountain views. The interiors are open and airy with French oak flooring. There's a grand entrance hall with 24-foot ceilings; a living room with a hand-carved French limestone fireplace; the original bar area where president Reagan hosted celebrities and world leaders; a 2,000-bottle wine room; a kitchen with antique wood-beamed ceilings that opens to a family room; and a screening room with cashmere-lined walls. Another hand-carved fireplace, rescued from the Henry T. Sloane Mansion on New York's Fifth Avenue, can be found in the dining room.

The bath connected to the library features a door from the old home that was present for an important part of history: On election night, November 4, 1980, president Reagan received the call from president Carter while in the shower with the news that he'd won. (A plaque commemorating the event decorates the door.) The grounds feature a formal courtyard with a fountain in front of the house, and a pool, lounge area, dining area, and outdoor kitchen with a wood-burning pizza oven out back.

Stats: 6 Bedrooms, 8.5 Baths, 12,000 sq. ft., $33 million
